I try to always look back on this time of my life here in Murkland as a happy time. Ony and I were growing our family. We had such sweet and loving children. It's just at the time it was stressful and there were many unanswered questions. But let's not get into that just yet.
Ony's first pregnancy was coming to and end. Her first pains started late one evening. I wished there was a way I could take that from her. I knew what it felt like, having given birth to Kendra. Still, she was tougher than she looked and put on a brave face.
I knew things were getting worse though when she started snapping at me about everything. I was trying to practice my pipe piano skill and she sharply told me to stop. I won't say the exact words she used, I know she said them out of pain. Needless to say, I didn't play for a few days after that.
She gave birth just before dawn. To not one, but two little blue skinned, black eyed babies. Both boys. I loved them from the instant I set eyes on them. Ony was sad at first. She felt as if she did something wrong. Then she became angry, cursing the aliens that did this to her.
I did my best to try and calm her. I told her we would keep them safe and hidden until they became toddlers and could disguise themselves like Kendra had done when she aged up. That seemed to make her feel better. But I was still becoming tense more and more. I had nearly run out of the rage relieving creams I was to use.
Ony found another way to deal with the stress, one that only added to mine. A love for cowcake. I warned her and warned her. I couldn't lose her. She had become special to me. She promised to be more careful and I decided to be more watchful and not let the cowplants go hungry if I could help it.
We both still had many unanswered questions about the aliens, or Celestial Beings as the Cliff Dwellers called them. Knowing they had a relationship with these creatures I went to talk to them some more. Only one of the younger daughters was at home when I arrived. She kept saying we were blessed and such. I agreed, but for different reasons.
She still would not answer many of my questions, but since we had become good friends, she told me of a portal here at their home. She told me if I was truly a chosen one, I could travel through this portal to the Beings world. I found the portal and when I spoke, they answered.
I stepped into the strange swirling matter and I can not tell how much time passed, it seemed like forever and yet was almost instant, but soon I was standing in a strange world. The air was stale and cool but it didn't hurt my lungs. I looked around in amazement.
The plants glowed in a strange almost hypnotic way. They also seemed to pulse in a low rhythmic humming sound. I could of watched them for hours. The blue glow was so calming. I never saw the strange alien man approaching, I was too entranced.
Then he laughed and I confess I jumped as his voice broke my trance. His skin was blue his eyes black. He smiled as he watched my face express my surprise and wonderment. My mouth open but I could not form my questions.
He had black hair on his head and a strange yellowish hair on his chest, just barely visible from the top of his suit. He looked me over and then asked how I got mine to match. I was confused at first. Then he explained how his people were trying to mimic earthlings, but they still had trouble with the hair.
We talked about this a little more before he sighed and said he had to return to his training. I still had no answers to my many questions, but I think I had made a friend here. He told me to look around the valley for what ever I wanted, but not to explore any further.
I did as I was told and found some interesting plants, gems and rocks. I would have to come here again and hope to find the strange man I had met. I hoped he could answer more of my questions someday. I had no idea how long I had been there but felt I should be on my way.
During my walk home, I could not believe the odds of this happening but, I was caught in the light of a small space craft and sucked up into it's small cargo bay. I know someone was in there with me. It was too bright to see what was going on and a force field kept me from moving. I know I was scanned and then I was dumped on the sidewalk in front of my vardo.
Ony was still awake and had been worried about me. She got even more worried when I told her about what just happened. I told her not to be afraid, I didn't feel the same this time as I had with Kendra. I was pretty sure there wouldn't be a baby.
We had two full grown cow plants now. One from the space berry and one from a berry I grafted myself. That task for the mayor was complete. And that meant we could have the rest of our children, 3 more to be exact. Still, I was in no hurry. Kendra was a child now and the boys just getting ready to turn into toddlers. Our hands were full.
Speaking of our boys, we had named them Joe and Bob. Ony wanted them to have normal names that were simple and plain. Human. They looked human now that they had learned how to camouflage themselves. They were sweet, curious little boys who loved to learn.
Only a day had passed and Ony had asked to have a little chat. I was surprised at what she was saying. She decided she wanted to get the toddler stage over at all at once and that we should try to have our next baby soon. She didn't want to get used to not having a toddler around and then have to have another. I didn't argue. It sounded good to me. So later that night we were back in the bushes, trying for number four.
Now, I know it sounds like I am making this next part up, I wouldn't believe it myself if I had not seen it happen. She was just returning from using the bush one last time before bed when the light shown again on her small frame. I watched helplessly as my Ony was sucked up into a little craft and flown off into the dark sky. I wondered at the time if this was all a joke. Some creature up there having fun messing with the lives of others. The answers would become clear soon, but I still have more to tell you. First, let's have another break, Ony needs my help with something.
