"Come on Dad, tell us more!" the kids all requested together. "Yeah, tell us, did you get away from the big bad croc?" Blaze asked. "You know your old man can take care of any old croc," Sunshine winked at him, "I decided to let him live, this time, and went back on the trail to find a safe place to set up my tent."
"I had a restful night sleep after all that exploring I did. I wasn't even bothered by the strange sounds of the jungle. But when I crawled out of my tent in the morning I was attacked by a whole flock or something of like these blood thirsty bats!!"
"I barely managed to scare them away only to be attacked by more giant spiders when I tried to cut through some vines. I quickly grabbed my little can of spider stun but it was nearly out. I didn't have enough to stun them all and was bit by a big old hairy one!"
"I started to feel a little strange and stuff, so I knew I needed to get back to base camp to take an anti-venom shot. My skin started to itch and I broke out in these crazy green spots. But you know, I was like super tough and I knew I'd have to fight that poison off with like my own strength of will until I made it back to camp!"
"So, I don't remember too much about what happened over the next hour it took me to get to camp, I guess the spider bite was making me do crazy things. I still had no machete so I had to use my hands to get through the vines. Somehow along the way I lost my clothes, but I was going to make it back alive no matter what!"
"Oh man dad! You would have to run around the jungle naked!" Star teased. "I bet you scared the monkeys," one of the boys teased and all the kids had a good laugh. "Hey now, I ain't that scary looking you know," Sunshine laughed along with them.
"Well I made it back to base camp and slept off the poison. After a few days I went to buy more clothes. I used an old tarp as a loin covering until I got them. After I got my new threads, I began going through all the artifacts I had collected looking for clues about where an orb of power could be found."
"One of the items I found was this gnarly little pink dude. It took most of the day to carefully clean him up. Once clean, I felt he was mocking me somehow, there were no clues on him anywhere."
"Thankfully he wasn't my only find. I had found a few other little statue dudes and managed to get enough clues and stuff, to figure out which paths to follow to find the lost Temple of Glowing Orbs," Sunshine's eyes twinkled as he told them the name. "Is that really what it was called?" Blaze asked. "Well, I found it first and stuff so I got to name it," he winked at him.
"I got up before the crack of dawn the next day, because I knew I'd have a long journey and stuff ahead of me. As soon as I pulled back the flap of the tent, I was ambushed by a swarm of mad bees! It was like they were waiting for me. But I was ready this time. I had found a flower the locals said would protect me. I waved it around and they all took off!"
"So after like, a long hike through vines and up hill and down and through the croc infested waters and swarms of bugs and stuff, I finally found my way to the temple. It wasn't as impressive as I thought it would be, but I guess the old dead guys weren't as great of builders as we are today."
"Once inside I found out why the building was so lame, they were to busy trying to come up with clever traps and stuff to like fool people from finding there junk. But they had never met your old man! And those little skelly dudes they had as guards didn't scare me none.""
"I was happy to of remembered my note pad and stuff because I had to compare a lot of notes before I could figure out some of the traps. These guys were pretty tricky!"
"I kept seeing these giant stone pictures on the walls and stuff, I couldn't help but wonder what they were. I tried to draw them the best I could so I could try and figure it out later. It almost looked as if they were fore-telling the apocalypse. I would never get to find out for sure because someone stole my note pad not long after I returned to Murkland."
"But from what I remember, it was something about a plant, a vine that would grow so big it would try and choke out the sun and send a plague throughout humanity...or something like that. All I know was I kept seeing the same symbols of a tree and the sun over and over again."
"I'm not sure how long I was in the temple, but I wasn't going to leave until I had that old orb thing in my hands! I defeated like, a butt load of traps and was making my way through level after level."
"Even though I was getting like super tired and stuff. I kept going, I knew I was close! I could almost smell the orb,...you know, if it had a smell and stuff."
"Finally, I made it into a room with walls that seemed to sparkle and glow with little stars. In the middle was a giant ornate chest, just asking to be opened. I went up to it and pushed with all my might. But nothing happened. I was sore and tired from the long day of defeating traps and I knew I would have to, you know, put all I had left in me into the next push. So I took a deep breath and puuuuuushed!"
"The lid slide open just enough and the room began to glow. I reached in and pulled out the orb! It was cool to the touch even though it looked like it was on fire. I was super pumped and knew the Mayor Man would be pleased
"Now I'll never forget that old temple place, with it's glowing walls. I'd love to go back there but they had put a ban up on travel a few years back. So we'll just have to wait to visit there again when it's safe." "What happened next, dad?" One of the kids asked. "Well, I came back here and gave the Mayor his orb. That's how we are able to have power here. Then I settled in at the Freegan camp and became one of them. Not long after I met your mom and, well, you kids know the rest."
