A few days after the heated, well maybe it was just warm, discussion I had with Sunshine we had our date night at the Puffer Dome. He had been super affection and romantic the past few days as well and tonight he was still in full flirt mode. When the waiters came to take our order he told them, "My lady will have like, the best plate of puffer fish you can make and I'll have a glass of your finest water." After they left he turned to me and winked,"Nothing but the best for you my murky princess."
He kept on with the flirting and it led to a little kissing before dinner. Then he went to go use the bushes while I waited for my fish. It must of been raccoon discount night because almost all of them were here this evening. Sunshine returned after I managed to choke down my fish. I was scared for a minute because it made me gag once, but I made it through the dish. That was when I told him I'd talk to Mud in the morning and see if there were anymore tasks he had for me. If I was free from his demands then we could start work on making another sunbeam. We decided to get a little practice and jumped in the bushes out back.
While we were, umm, distracted one of the green raccoons came out and sat near our bush. All of a sudden we heard him shouting strange words at us. I'm not sure if he was angry or what but we heard him get up and walk away. After some time we poked our heads out to make sure he was gone and decided to head home. As we left the restaurant we passed all the raccoons listening to one talk in their strange language. I'm not sure what he said but the others watched us walk by with those big unblinking eyes.
When we arrived home, Muddia was waiting outside the jail to talk with me. She told me how she had many of her skills to the level needed to eat the grow up cake. I told her how proud of her I was. Then she asked me if she really had to move in with her father after she aged into a young adult. I explained that it was his wish to teach his girls in the ways of his faction himself. I also told her she would always be welcomed to come and talk to me no matter what.
The next morning I went to see Mud. He was eating a breakfast of grilled cheese and seemed to be in a very mellow mood. I took a few deep breathes to relax my voice, then began by stating how I had finished all of the tasks he had given me so far. I had the kids, the skills, the perfect plants, and had saved someone from death. I then asked what he had left for me to do. "There is only one task left I require of you," he replied, and then slowly chewed his sandwich while staring at me. Finally he added, "I shall give it to you when your child age children become teens. It will demand much of your attention." "And after that I am free to do what I wish?" "You are now, to a certain degree," he looked at me and smiled, "you have pleased me enough to earn that." I thanked him and left. When I got home I helped Maddy with a project, my mind was full of guesses as to that final task.
Some days later Mud's girls both met the requirements to eat the grow up cake and aged into young adults. Mud came to celebrate with them and everything was peaceful for a while. Maddy was excited to be joining her father. Muddia on the other hand questioned him and requested to stay at the jail longer. They had a bit of a disagreement and in the end it was decided they would both move to their father's small home by the end of the following day.
That evening I sat talking with Sunshine. I told him if he really wanted another baby we could try for it. Maddy gloomily sat eating a grilled cheese and when she heard me talking said, "So it's out with the old and in with the new, eh Mom? You could of at least waited until we were gone before trying to replace us." I looked at her sadly, "I could never replace you or any of my kids, Maddy. Nor would I ever try. I love you all no matter what, and love keeps growing so there is always room for more." She half smiled at me. Meanwhile, poor Muddia tried to soothe her sad thoughts about moving with cake.
Early the next morning I took my M&M's to a water park in Nukecrest. They both felt lost at first. Neither of them were very playful and Muddia was still a little gloomy. We kept sliding and eventually they both started to have a great time.
I made a meal for us and told them both I loved them and was proud of the way they had turned out so far. I told them to be patient with their dad and to always try their best to respect him. I gave them some other advice too. We spent almost the whole day there, and before we all left I hugged them both and told them they could come see me anytime. I told Muddia to watch out for her sister and to help her with that evil trait. She just laughed and said she'd try.
After I saw the girls home to their dad's, I walked around for a while and didn't make it home until the next afternoon. I found Sunshine waiting for me at the front of the jail. He had that dreamy look in his eyes and said, "So, we are like all alone and stuff. What do you say to making a little sunbeam?" "You sure don't waste anytime do you?" I teased him. "Well, you know, it might take a few tries. Not that I am complaining." I just laughed, "Don't worry, knowing my luck I'll get pregnant with four babies on the first try." We both laughed and about that time our girls came home from their class. The looked exhausted and both headed to their beds for an early night.
We joked some more and then he said,"So...", and nodded his head to the bushes out front of the jail. "Let's light up the murky world with our sunbeams!" He grinned at me before we hopped into a bush. We chose the one on the right this time. I figured if the one on the left gave us girls then maybe this one would give us a boy. A little Sunshine junior might be fun. As soon as I stepped out of the bush I felt sick to my stomach so I knew I was now carrying another little murklander.
The next morning while I was still trying to snooze, one of the girls decided to play with the little chemical table. I'm not sure what she did but it burst into flames and she started screaming. Sunshine came running in like a blaze of fire himself to put the thing out. "Run!" He shouted at her, "Get to your mother!" Thankfully he put it out in time. I don't think he liked that table much after that.
Since I'd soon be adding to my brood of children, I was feeling super motherly and since it was Friday and I invited them all for a little picnic at the hot springs. My girls went to go play on the water slide while I cooked up some baked potatoes and talked with my son, Pain. "But why would you want more kids, Mom?" he asked, "Most people would think seven is more than enough." "Well, Sunshine wants more. He loves being a dad and he is pretty awesome at it," I smiled at him, "and I love him and want him to be happy. I feel the same way about all you kids too!"
While they all ate their meal I played them some songs I had wrote. "..Oh they are my murky babies and no matter what may come, I'll love them forever until my murky days are done...." I just loved hearing them all laugh and talk. This had to be one of the best afternoons of my murky life so far. Later that night I munched trash fruit and told Sunshine about the day. He told me he disposed of the chemical table and we would never see it again.
The next day I had a visit from Mendy, she was writing some children books for the library and wanted to collect some of her old drawings. While she went off to search for them, Sunshine came out to watch Star and Dawn play chess. He saw me and started cheering for some reason, "Woo, yeah! There's my pregnant lady carrying my little murky baby! Woo!" I just smiled and wondered if he had been eating some old trash fruit or something. I started dancing by the bonfire while he began talking to the girls. When Mendy was leaving she found me still dancing and asked if I should be doing it in my condition. I just said sure, I did it with all of my other babies.
It was Saturday so Sunshine and I went out on our date to the Dome. I had changed out of my smelly bonfire clothes because the smell was making me sick. And I didn't need anything else to help me with that since I had to eat fish. While we were waiting for dinner, a strange man who said he was a health inspector started trying to carry on a conversation. He kept saying stuff like, "Am I right? Hmm, You know what I mean? hmm, eh, hmm". I really wished he would just leave. Finally his food came and he left us alone. Then Sunshine and I talked about baby names. It would be time soon!
That night I saw Dr. George and Ren eating together. When we passed their table on the way to the bushes, I over heard them talking about the CDC and trying to get into the basement and about the alien watchers still in Murkland. That was one conversation I'd like to get in on. But Sunshine was already waiting near the bushes. I wasn't too sure how I'd manage this with a big baby bump, but I think we both came out that bush with a boost to our confidence.
The next day I spent taking care of things around the jail in prep for my delivery. I had just managed to grab a plate of something to eat when Muddia showed up. She wanted to talk but I needed to sit down so we went inside the office room. I had just got in the seat when she started yelling at me for not letting Mud know I had gotten pregnant again and for not even really asking him if I could even have more kids. I was shocked at her behavior but at the same time happy she loved her father enough to support him. I explained how he said I was free to do what I wanted. She calmed down some and told me how he had been acting depressed ever since he had found out and she didn't like to see him that way. After she left Sunshine came in and gave me a kiss on the cheek. I guess he had heard the raised voices and wanted to comfort me.
We went out and cuddled by the bonfire he had lit. It reminded me of old times and those murky nights at the gym. Later I was feeling sore and tired and headed to take a little nap when, Kiki Winds the Sand whisper showed up at the jail. "The winds have brought me here tonight," she smiled at me and placed her hands on my stomach,"They tell of a bright light shining in Murkland tonight. A golden ray of sunshine shall blaze it's way into the world. And soon!" No sooner had she finished speaking then I felt sharp pains followed quickly the need to push. Before I knew it I held a wiggling baby boy in my arms.
And blazing a trail behind him came his brother! Twins again! Two little boys. Two little sunbeams to add to my brood. We named them Ray and Blaze, so I would always remember the night they came into the murky world. Kiki came into smile and whisper to them both. Secret blessings perhaps, she would not tell me what she told them. When Sunshine found out he had sons he was over joyed! After settling them to sleep he went out and performed his best fire dance to celebrate their birth. I too was happy for another double blessing. But I couldn't help and wonder how Mud would react when he found out Sunshine had the boys that he had wanted.
