"Alright kids, settle down, and stuff," Sunshine began, "For family fun night I thought I'd share some tales from, you know, my past and stuff. Like back when I first came to Murkland and the Mayor used to send me out on crazy tasks and stuff." "Geez, dad, are you sure you can remember that far back," Star teased and everyone had a good laugh.
"Yeah yeah, I ain't that old and stuff yet," Sunshine grinned at her, "now let me see. I was just starting to let my hair grow out and I had just grown my chops in on my face. I was feeling pretty confident and stuff. The Mayor Man had picked me out of all the other young men to go on this special assignment. Deep into the jungle of Selvadorada."
"Wait wait, so the Mayor actually picked you to go?" Dawn questioned. "Didn't he know how much you have to pee and nap a lot?" She playfully teased him about his favorite pass time of using the bushes. "Hey now, Your old man was way more energetic back then, you know," He told her with a grin, "Besides, the Mayor Man knew I was way more braver than all the other young ducks here at the time. And his mission called for the bravest. He wanted me to find a glowing orb of power! He was going to use it to give electricity to Murkland."
"So where was I...Oh yeah, I had just surveyed the area a little and found an old museum. Inside I met the curator, and he was like, super up in the bush about something when I found him. He claimed people were stealing artifacts and stuff. I calmed him down some by telling him he could have any extra stuff I found. I was like, only after the one the Mayor wanted."
"I think that made him happy because he went and slapped on some new threads and was a lot more groovy to talk to. He even told me about the best places to look and all the supplies I should take with me before heading out. I'll tell you something else, I saw a Mad Mudder there that day too. I had a suspicion that Old Man Mud was trying to find an orb for himself."
"After I left the museum I went and found a little market to buy my supplies and stuff. They had all kinds of cool little things to help out in the jungle. I bought what I could with the little the Mayor had given me." "Are you sure you didn't spend it all on food?" One of the kids teased him again.
"Hey now," He grinned and got up to throw another log on the little fire we had going, "I have to eat every so often to keep my strength up, you know. It's all this muscle." He winked at me before sitting down to continue his story.
"Now I might have bought a little snack or two. But it was for mission purposes only, you know. The curator had said I needed to have a high knowledge of the locals if I was to get very far around here. Besides, I always love trying new vegg."
"And I may have had to take a little power nap after I ate, but it was you know just until the food digested and stuff." All the kids laughed and teased him about using the bushes again. "No, I didn't use a bush," He told them in a fake smug voice, "it was a bench." We all laughed again.
"So after my Power nap I went out to look for some clues that might, you know, lead me to the power orb. I'm not sure how many of those piles I had to dig through before I found enough artifacts to tell me anything. But, by that time it was late so I headed back to my camp."
"The next morning I was attacked by a whole giant swarm of these killer spiders. I'm talking like huge, these things were like big enough to scare the socks off of old man Mud! Fortunately I had some bug knock out spray and used it to stun them before tossing them back into the jungle."
"Then I found my way into the jungle. First though I had to cut my way through these massive, like super thick vines and stuff. I had a huge machete I had bought the day before and it made it easier than just using my hands. But of course I could of done it that way if I had too."
"The jungle path led down a dark vine filled trail. You could hear all kinds of like strange sounds coming from all sides. Distant screams and growls. Of course I wasn't scared, you know. I was like super brave and stuff."
"At the end of the trail I saw this little clearing and in the middle was an old wreck of an air plane. I wondered if it had crashed during the apocalypse. It looked as if it had been there for a while and stuff."
Blaze's eyes grew wide and he asked, "Did it have a dead body in it?"
"Yeah," Ray chimed in,"Did it have the old rotten skeleton of the pilot in it?" "What's wrong with you boys?" One of the girls asked.
Sunshine just laughed and said,"No, it was empty and stuff. I checked. I guess the dude must of survived....or was ate by something in the jungle."
"Anyway, near the plane there were like more of those little piles of stuff to look through. I found a few more clues and stuff. I also found an old chest with a dirty little statue in it."
"Of course by this time I had worked up quite a hunger. You know, anyone would of, so I decided to try one of the little grilled cheese things I had bought at the market. Well, once you got past the crusty hard outside, there was a soft gooey middle of what I am guessing was cheese or at least I hoped was cheese."
"I wasn't to sure but whatever it was it sent me to the bushes right after I ate it. Thankfully I had read about which bushes to use and which ones to avoid."
"After leaving the little clearing I made my way out across a little bridge to some old ruins near the most amazing waterfalls I had ever seen! They filled you with such an awe that you couldn't help but wish you had someone there to share it with. If only I had your mother there with me then..." He winked at me.
"At the end of the path was another vine covered doorway I had to cut my way through. Well, I must of disturbed like a whole swarm of like killer giant bees or something. I mean these things where like the biggest bees I had ever seen in my life!"
"Were they as big as the spiders, Dad?" Dawn teased him. "Hey now," he started, "Jungle bugs are way worse then Granite Falls bugs! Like a million times and stuff."
"So after I was able to avoid the bees, I found myself near an ancient pool of some sort. It had the shape of a giant llama bird, or something. And in the middle of it was a little pool for the eye. And in that was some guy in a hat swimming back and forth like he was stuck or something."
"I wondered how long he had been there or if he was trapped, so went to see what was going on. He climbed out of the pool and well, he was a sickly looking dude. Looked like he hadn't ate in weeks. He told me he had been trapped here after losing his machete. I gave him an extra one I had and he took off in a hungry blur."
"Later that day I was regretting giving away my extra knife. I lost the one I had been using and had to use my bare hands to get through some vines. But it wasn't anything I couldn't handle. You're old man is tough and stuff so I made my way through."
"I broke a few fingernails and got a few scratches but it was all worth it and stuff because the next thing I know I'm walking through this beautiful, moonlit glade. Full of little blinking fireflies and a huge waterfall that seemed to glow green in the pale light."
"I was so entranced and stuff, by the place I found myself exploring all over it. I even started fishing to see what kind of fish lived there. But there was something else in the water hunting the fish....A giant massive croc!!"
"Well maybe he wasn't so big, but I didn't stay around to measure him, you know," Sunshine laughed and we all looked at him in anticipation. "What happened then?" Blazed asked while doing the peepee dance. Sunshine grinned at him and said,"Why don't we all take a little break and use the bushes and stuff. Maybe even get a snack. We can finish the story later."
We all agreed and went off to use the bushes and grab some trash fruit.
